croissant
As delicious as a freshly baked croissant is on a Sunday morning, today, we're talking about something completely different: an ode to the moon. The lune croissante, or the crescent moon to be precise, is the phase where the moon takes the form of, well, a croissant. But what exactly is this phase? Oh, and by the way, did you know that the croissant (the buttery kind) is almost 500 years old? Legend has it that Viennese bakers caught a group of tunnel-digging Turks and saved the city from invasion. How did they celebrate? The bakers baked bread rolls in the shape of the Turkish crescent — and voila! The croissant was born.
